Ibne Safi

Ibn-e-Safi (1928–1980) was a legendary Pakistani novelist, widely regarded as the master of Urdu spy and detective fiction. Born Asrar Ahmad, he created two of the most famous series in Urdu literature: the Jasoosi Dunya series and the iconic Imran Series. His witty, intelligent, and imaginative storytelling set the gold standard for the entire genre and inspired countless later writers.

Ibn-e-Safi created the beloved character Ali Imran, the comical yet brilliant secret agent known as “X-2,” first introduced in Khaufnaak Imarat (The Terrifying Building) in 1955. His novels are famous for their clever plots, memorable characters, sharp humour, and clean, engaging style, and they continue to be read and loved decades after they were written. He wrote well over a hundred Imran Series books along with his celebrated Jasoosi Dunya novels.
